Since I last wrote for the website I have had my first 'end of term year group' meeting with all 25 first year Reader Trainees at St John's Widnes on Saturday January 8th. For that day I had to prepare a 6 minute sermon presentation to be delivered to the rest of my year group. ( Oh! that all sermons were 6 minutes long I hear you cry!). The subject I was given for my sermon was 'The Covenant' - What did God promise, to whom, and why? I really enjoyed the research and study and have discovered so much I had not previously appreciated about God's covenant relationship with mankind. It has also brought about a fresh enthusiaism for the Old Testament. My desire to dig even deeper has grown but unfortunately my available time has not expanded at the same rate. The 6 minute sermon was 'videoed' and tutors and mentors were present to offer a critique of each 'performance.' I enjoyed the experience, nerves and all!
I have also just completed a study of the minor prophets and in particular, I was assigned the prophet Zephaniah to research. Now I have to be honest it took me some time to discvoer just where Zeph' was in the Bible, but now I feel we have been friends for some time!
This coming month I am looking at Ezekiel, dry bone and all that. Now, I do know where that book is, mainly because it was so crucial in my conversion to Christ. Why not ask me about that next time we meet?
Thank you for your prayers and thoughts........'always keep praying'
Love in Him
